Whiteout-Blackout
'Voice of Inspiration' from Andy Castro
If you’ve ever been a snowstorm you may have experienced a whiteout. In my experience in a whiteout, I couldn’t see very far in front of me and lost my sense of direction. There was so much snow and cloud cover, I could only see vague outlines of dark objects. I was surrounded by so much “white”, I was uneasy and uncomfortable with my surroundings.
On the contrast I’ve also experienced a total blackout. During a tour of an underground cave, the tour guide shut off the only light we had in the cave. We were standing in total darkness. With our eyes

Jesus the Christmas Tree
'Refreshment in Refuge' from Gina Burgess
In my house this year, we had a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. You know, rather small and insignificant looking with only 70 lights and a few red bells for decoration. It is a live tree, though, green and straight, not leaning over, or withered looking. We were just too sick this year to drag out all the decorations or to do much shopping. However, in your living room or somewhere in your house there may be a green tree standing tall and draped with beautiful, tinkling jewels of light and glory.
I didn’t hear much conversation this year about Holiday tree versus Christmas

Failure
''Christ in You...'' from Dale Krebbs
Do you often fail? For some, failure is more than just an occasional departure from the norm. The norm is seldom a consistant success. Failure seems to be the norm. We fail the expectancies of others around us; our friends, even our loved ones, neighbors, co-workers, fellow Christians. But why? Granted that seems to be so, but why is it so. Why is it the norm rather than an occasional mess up. God has not forgotten that we are flesh and blood, and not perfect. Why can't all of us always do the right thing, say the right words that would make up what God would have us say, and

Honoring A Father
'Inspiration For You' from Randy Mitchell
In the spirit of Father’s Day, I’ve decided to begin by telling the tale of one of the best.
My father was born in the early 1930’s among the rolling hills of Arkansas, went to that state’s great university, served in the U.S. Air Force as a Sergeant during the Korean War, was employed for thirty plus years in the pharmaceutical industry after college, became married and stayed devoted to my mom for over forty years, was active in church, social organizations, and a dedicated father to my sister and I. He suddenly passed away in 2002, leaving behind his

Bible and Quote - February 16-20
'Bible verse and quote' from Jan Couns
You are my hiding place and my shield; I wait for Your word. Psalm 119:114 He who possesses faith in omnipotent God, dwells in an atmosphere of grace surrounded with the bodyguard of mercies. CH. Spurgeon, 1834-92
Depart from me, evildoers, That I may observe the commandments of my God. Psalm 119:115 The dangerous influence of fellowship with wicked men is but too evident from observation. From the extreme infirmity of our nature, it is the easiest thing in the world to contract pollution and catch infection. John Calvin, 1509-64, French reformer, theologian

Whats on our Hearts?
'God's Words For US' from Cecelia Lester
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 (NIV)
As believers in Jesus Christ, what is on our hearts here in the middle of the year 2015? Are we concerned about those around us and where they are with the LORD? We should be.
“Pray continually” 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NIV)
After the mass murder in Charleston South Carolina last week, I couldn’t get that city off my heart. I am thankful that they have united to face this tragedy as children of God.

Aged?
'Chip Shots from the Ruff of Life' from Tom Kelley
This age thing is annoying. They say (whoever they are) you forget what you've just said and repeat yourself quite frequently. This age thing is annoying. They say (whoever they are) you forget what you've just said and repeat yourself quite frequently. That being said (twice even) growing old is not all that it's cracked up to be.
I pray that I can grow old gracefully. I pray that I do not become some curmudgeon whose outlook on life is self-centered. I have the privilege of being around some of the finest people anyone could wish to meet. The senior saints of the Minorsville

Through Christ
''Winging It' from Stan Smith
For He [Christ] was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. (1 Peter 1:20-21)
What do we get from this? Well, we know that Christ was foreknown before creation. Therefore, He is an eternal being. We know that God raised Him from the dead and glorified Him. We know that His resurrection is the basis of your faith and hope being in God. But did you catch that little statement from Peter? He

Disappointed, Dominated and Deformed
'The Way' from Kevin Pauley
Then God spoke all these words, saying, I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing loving kindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep

Justification XX (3-15-11)
'Today's Little Lift' from Jim Bullington
“Do You Believe in the Son of God?”
“Jesus heard that they [the Pharisees] had cast him [the blind man] out; and when He had found him, He said to him, 'Do you believe in the Son of God?' He answered and said, 'Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?' And Jesus said to him, 'You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you.' Then he said, 'Lord, I believe!' And he worshiped Him. And Jesus said, 'For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind.' Then some of the Pharisees who

God Knows How to Use His Prophetic Servants
'Word from Scotland' from Sandy Shaw
God knows how he is going to use His prophetic servant, Jeremiah – what His method is going to be – using pictures and rhyming words – and using things with which Jeremiah and the people would be familiar. Jeremiah draws lessons from these.
Chapter 1 verse 11 – what do you
In the difficult span of a week a man I met recently went through a torrent of problems, some of his own making, in which he said he lost all but one of his friends. That one friend called me and asked me to meet with him just to talk. She briefed me on the man's situations and gave me his phone number so I could call him and set a time to meet. When the man and I got together

Words to Ponder
If we truly believe in Christ it must be penitently; if we repent of sin it must be believingly. - Sinclair Ferguson (20th century)

Judges 1; Job 33; Acts 15:22-41:
The LORD said, "Judah shall go up; behold, I have handed the land over to him." Then Judah said to his brother Simeon, "Go up with me into the territory allotted me, and let's fight the Canaanites; and I in turn will go with you into the territory allotted you." So Simeon went with him. Judah went up, and the LORD handed over to them the Canaanites and the Perizzites, and they defeated ten thousand men at Bezek. They found Adoni-bezek in Bezek and fought
